All-Star Game: Â Sunday, July 5th, 8:00 p.m. @ Hobbs
Format: Â A riveting 10 inning match, Jayhawk Conf. v Wakarusa Conf., with gents playing innings 1,3,5,7,9 and ladies playing innings 2,4,6,8,10. Â Each team is to send one gal and one guy. Â I hope all teams end up with at least one representative, it is (after all) a holiday weekend. Â I suspect refs will be easy to find. Â Teams, choose your captains wisely.
If you end up scrimmaging/practicing at another field, please save your cans and bring them to Hobbs later in the evening. Cans for Community will be providing their SUPER AWESOME tubs, at Hobbs (just to reiterate where they'll be hanging out) between 5 and 10 p.m.
CAPTAIN'S MEETING- When: Â Tuesday, July 7th @ 6:30 (SHARP) Â Â
Where: Â Big Six Room, in the Historic Eldridge Hotel. Â This meeting is NOT MANDATORY. Â Although, we'd like to see as many teams as are willing to attend.
Here we will discuss extending my reign. Â For the opening presentation, I'll be borrowing word for word from the same referendum Hugo Chavez tried to pass in Venezuela. Â It failed and I'm kidding. Â We'll be talking about rules, hurt feelings, and other logistics. The meeting will be formatted by (our very own) Nick Lerner to keep us on point and help us make effective use of our time. Â Please reflect on the games you've played in and/or watched: Â how may we make this league work better? Â This is our first-ever midseason meeting of this ilk. Â Worst case scenario, we hang out and talk kickball for a couple hours while enjoying libation (from the bar upstairs). Â Best case scenario, substantive changes and consensus arise via thoughtful discussion. Â That'd be nice (either one, ideally both). Â Experience has taught me to keep my emotional state unbound by the outcome of similar meetings. Â Open minds equate to productive converse, usually.
I look forward to seeing you soon. Â Cheers!
