RE: Kickball Fundraiser On April 17, 2010, eleven teams participated in a kickball fundraising tournament organized by the Mutual Aid Society- MSW Group and the Kaw Valley Kickball League. Abbey Young, a current MSW student, submitted the Souter family to the MSW Student Group in hopes that they could be the beneficiaries for this year's kickball tournament. Jayden Souter is a 4-year girl who has recently completed her fourth round of chemotherapy.   Erica, Jayden's mom, attended the event early Saturday morning and was thankful for all the participation and support.  The event raised $1,912 for Jayden and her family. Around 125 players participated in the event, including students from KU School of Social Welfare program. The winning team of the tournament was The Goats, followed by Pro-Choice (a team featuring several MSW students- Jake Nelson, Ashley Brinkman and James Fullagar), and in third place B. Juice.  I personally would like to thank Scott Starrett for his help in many areas including designing the graphic for the t-shirt in a short amount of time, Sun Creations for printing the shirts so quickly, and Paul Santos for networking with teams to make this event possible.  Without you this event would not have been such a huge success.  I am grateful for the large amount of support and help the Kaw Valley Kickball League lent to this event. Next year hopefully we can do this again, and help out another family in need.  Great work everyone, and thank you so much for all your dedication and participation!  Please keep the Souter family in your thoughts and prayers.
