The 2011 season is almost here! As we get ready to roll the first pitch, I wanted to mention a few noteworthy items for this Sunday.
Equipment If you are the home team of the 5:30 game, you are in charge of picking up the equipment for your field. I will be at the kickball shack, which is in the alley behind 946 Pennsylvania, between 4:30 and 5:15. The winning team of the 7:00 game is in charge of returning the equipment to the shack. Please keep in mind that the people collecting equipment would like to watch the Game of the Week too, so get it turned in quickly. If you are playing the 7:00 game at Hobbs, your equipment will be waiting for you in the 3rd base dugout.
Waivers Make sure that everyone who steps on the field has signed a waiver. I would ask that each team
go to the KVKL website and print off the waivers they will need for this week. There will be a folder at every field for you to put the waivers in once they are signed. Please make sure your players fill out the top portion with team, nickname, and gender. Thank you for your help with this pesky, but necessary task.
Referees As always, each team needs to provide two referees for the other game at your field. We're all going to be a little rusty this first week, so take it easy if a ref misses a call. There will be a copy of the rules on each clipboard if something unusual comes up. Please have the people that ref your game put their names on the scorecard. Remember, only captains may discuss calls with the referees.
Clean-up Our goal is to leave the fields cleaner than we found them. Please get all your belongings and trash out of the dugout, and check around the field. There will be a Cans for the Community recycling bin at each field for your cans, which will be dropped off at the shack with the rest of the equipment. At Hobbs, clean up the area around you, and take a few minutes after the game to walk around picking up extra trash. Let's all take pride in this league, and do our part to keep the parks clean.
That's about all I can think of. Let me know if you have any questions between now and Sunday. Please get your games started on time and keep them moving. Don't forget to drink lots of water, wear sunscreen, and above all else,
HAVE FUN!
Thank you,
Geoff
