A few of you have asked me what the criteria will be for ties within a division after this week's games. We've made a few changes this year, hopefully for the better. The mindset of the board is that by only using Runs Allowed in games among the teams they are tied with, teams will not be punished for relaxing their defense during lopsided games.
Here is the hierarchy for determining ranks:
Record
Head-to-Head
Runs Allowed vs the teams you're tied with*
Runs Scored vs the teams you're tied with**
*In the instance of three or more teams being tied, and two of those teams have the same Runs Allowed in games among those teams, Head-to-Head will be used to separate those two teams before Runs Scored is used. Example is teams A, B and C are all 6-1 with A beating C, C beating B, B beating A. Team A has allowed 18 runs in games among those teams, while B and C have each allowed 24. Team A will get the 1-seed, and C will get the 2-seed, having won against team B.
**This would be used in the unlikely instance of three teams being tied, and all those teams have the same Runs Allowed against each other with Head-to-Head not being usable. Example is Teams A, B and C are all 6-1 with A beating C, C beating B, B beating A. All three teams have allowed 18 runs. We would then go to Runs Scored in games among teams A. B and C.
I hope that helps clear things up. The board will be meeting early next week to get divisions sorted out, so the final three regular season games will be posted on the website shortly thereafter. Tomorrow will be about as hot as it gets around here, so don't forget the water!
