It's been another terrific summer of kickball, and I want to thank you all for your contributions to the league. Congratulations to the Star Bar Barracudas for winning the Championship, and a Less-Awesome congratulations to the Ghosts! It seems that top-to-bottom, the league is stronger than ever, which is largely a result of the enthusiasm of our league's participants. Pick-up games were going on as soon as the snow melted, and many people played several times a week throughout the season. Despite the higher level of competition, the comaraderie around the league remains phenomenal, and it's been a pleasure spending the summer with the people that make Lawrence great. Being a part of Kaw Valley Kickball is something I treasure, and I hope that each of you feels the same way.
Here's a few postseason events that are coming up in the next month:
Sunday, Sept. 11, 3-5 pm at the Eldridge: Town Hall Meeting. There seems to be numerous great ideas floating around the league, and this is your chance to discuss them. Each team is asked to send one representative to reflect on the season and talk about ways to make this league better and more sustainable.Â
Sunday, Sept. 18. at Liberty Hall, time TBA: End of the Season Party. Put on your fancy pants and come celebrate a great season! More info coming soon.
Sunday, Sept. 25, 1-11 pm at Holcom: KVKL Fall Classic. This will be the 5th year of this all day tournament. Come out and play kickball until you collapse...for charity! We are still deciding on a beneficiary for this, so let us know if you have any suggestions. More info coming soon.
Thanks again for an amazing season. I know it's one I'll never forget. Hope to see you all very soon!
