The Kaw Valley Kickball League was founded on the ideals of community, festivity, and love for a game most of us played in elementary school. While we take all of these values seriously, we as a league are ever evolving.  The KVKL has been moving towards only using dirt fields for a number of years.  Our competition level and challenges with officiating have led us to desire more standardized fields, choosing the good ole diamond for the sake of consistency.
A majority of the league indicated on their registration rosters that they do not feel strongly about continued use of grass fields. While we wanted to keep a grass field for those who feel nostalgic, lack of significant interest in grass and desire for more consistent fields have led us to eliminate South Park as a regularly scheduled KVKL game field.  We no longer use grass during the tournament, so we feel we should strive for that same consistency during the season.
On the upside, changing our field preferences allows for more games at places like Holcom. Â This presents a greater opportunity for more exposure (5 fields/10 games/20 teams!) to a majority of the league at a central location.
You are all welcome to use South Park for non-official KVKL events, i.e. practices and scrimmages.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and let's have a great season!
