Hello Kickballers,
This is my favorite time of year. Â We are in the midst of highly competitive games in all pools.
WEEK 11:
We are changing up the schedule this year for the end of the season.  Since we planned extra time for potential rain-outs (which we didn't need!), we will play a regular season week 11.  This introduction of playing a week 11 is a one time thing.  We will not do this in future seasons.  Week 11 play will take place on  Sunday, August 5th, and the schedule will be released in the early part of the week after week 10 games take place.
We will use the results of pool play to help come up with good match-ups for week 11 play. Â This will also assist us with tournament seeding.
The Criteria for Tournament Seeding (in no particular order):
1.) Â What pool your team is in
2.) Â Your team's rank within in your pool
3.) Â Overall record
4.) Â Head-to-Head
*potential tie-breakers decided 1st by runs allowed and second by runs scored
We also have a new addition to the tournament schedule this year (assuming the rain continues to cooperate):
Tournament Schedule Change:
In addition to the Less Awesome Bracket (losers of the first round battle it out for 16th place), we will have the "Reasonably Awesome Bracket". Â The RAB will be for the winners of the 1st round who lose in the 2nd round. Â They will have the opportunity to battle for 9th place. Â We will also, of course, be keeping the "Awesome" or "Fully Awesome" Bracket.
WEEK 11 GOTW:
For week 11 GOTW we will have the GOTW be "Captain's Choice". Â Once we select the match-ups for week 11, we will send an e-mail to all the captains to vote on who they would like to see play GOTW. Â They will have at least two match-ups to choose from. Â One vote per team (meaning, both captain & co-captain cannot vote). Â I'll give out the deadline for voting in the e-mail, but I just wanted to give you all a head's up.
Future GOTW's:
If we want to continue the tradition of GOTW we have got to get our act together. Â This last Sunday we were in danger of getting into serious trouble. Â Please remember we are in a neighborhood.
*We cannot allow extra noise: Â no amplified audio (music, announcers, bands), no fireworks or explosives of any kind - especially NOT in the stands.
*Please help keep your teammates and friends in order. Â Please be respectful of the neighborhood by not littering and holding your bladders until you get to an actual restroom facility.
*PLEASE don't bring glass, and if you are too cool for aluminum then at least DO NOT put your glass bottles in the Cans for Community Bins. Â That's double uncool.
*I would like to ask that moving forward we abstain from projectiles in the stands. Â If you would like to make & hand out jello shots etc, that's great. Â Just please do so by passing them out directly from a cooler, not by launching them into the stands.
I think the last thing any of us wants is for Hobbs to be removed from our schedule.
I would also like to request that we all keep our tempers in check, whether it's at GOTW or during our own games. Â Remember our refs are volunteers. Â Even if you disagree with a call they make, the only thing you can control is yourself. Â Instead, focus on how you and your team could have made fewer errors to get that win instead of blaming your loss on the ref.
Thanks for reading, and let's have a killer rest of the season!
