2013 Season Announcements!

Hello KVKL Nation,

There's nothing like a raging snowstorm to get us thinking about the fun-filled, sunny days of kickball, right?  I had such a great time serving as your commissioner for the 2012 season.  I couldn't be prouder to be a part of such a great group of people!

In anticipation of this next season there are a few things I would like to share with you.

This Wednesday, February 27th, we will have a rules discussion meeting in the Big 6 Room located in the basement of the Eldridge Hotel (701 Massachusetts St.) at 6pm.  Before the end of last season I asked anyone with rule change proposals to send them to our league account (kawvalleykickball@gmail.com).  I have saved the proposals we received, but I would like to invite anyone interested to attend the meeting.  You are also welcome to send us an e-mail with your ideas prior to the meeting if you are unable to attend.  Even though the league is run by the KVKL Board we appreciate and value league feedback.

We also need someone to take over the reins as our weekly entertainment and kickball analyst/enthusiast on the Sundays in the Park Blog.  If you are interested in taking on this endeavor please submit a letter to kawvalleykickball@gmail.com explaining your vision for the blog, as well as a sample of what your first post might look like.

We will be hosting a Spring Tournament on April 28th.  More details to come, but we wanted to let you know to save the date!

More Dates!

April 1st:  Returning team registration, money, and as many signed waivers as possible due.  League fees will remain at $175 this season.  More registration info to come from our registration head, Erin Adams!

April 15th:  New team registration and money due. If you are vying for a spot in the league, I would recommend getting your roster turned in by April 1st, and we will notify you by April 11th if we are accepting your team into the league and requiring your league fees on April 15th.

Tuesday, April 30th:  Captains' meeting at 6pm in the Big 6 Room at The Eldridge Hotel.  If your captain and/or co-captain are unable to attend, we would like you to send a representative from your team to this meeting.  The captains' meeting and ref clinic will be especially important this season since we are considering making multiple rule changes.

Sunday, May 5th:  Ref Clinic, time and place TBD.

Sunday, June 2nd:  1st Day of regular season!!!!

We will play on the weekends surrounding July 4th since the holiday falls on a Thursday.  We plan to stick with the usual format of 10 weeks of regular season play followed by the 3 week tournament.

I have saved the best news for last!  I am thrilled to announce that our commissioner for the 2013 season will be the talented and lovely, Jacki Becker.

I'm looking forward to another great season!

Keep Kicking,
Diana G.
