KVKL - It's not over just yet, we promise

Hello KVKL family –

Many congratulations to Abraxas: death and taxes for winning the 2013 KVKL championship.  Hopefully you can find a suitable home to display your championship trophy (that is if you can peel it out of Hannah Blodgetts hands).  Although they didn’t win, big props to Happy Shirt for again making it to another KVKL finale, as much as I hate to say it, your team is always the one to beat.

Of course we also give high fives to the Tellerdactyls victory over Free State in the less awesome bracket.  May Lady Diana brighten your business every day too!  Incidently this is the first time the plate has left the corner of  7th & Mass. So great job Tellerdactyls (instert loud squaking sound).

A quick update on an injured KVKL player from sunday.  Brittany Fellers is recovering from a heavy fall during the Chalmerz / Happy Shirt game.  She has fractured her skull but is home resting.  Send her lots of love as she recovers the next few weeks.

This has been my 10th year in the league.  It never ceases to amaze me at how 32 teams, who compete ferociously against one another each week, also hang together and celebrate week in and week out.  Speaking of hanging out, we have a few more events planned to commemorate the 2013 season.

Tonight at 7pm at Harbor Lights we will be having our final podcast of the season. Come on down and watch us all chat about final week of the 2013 season.  We like hecklers and people with questions too, especially questions about Cougars predictions.

This Friday at 6:30 on Channel 6 the KVKL Championship game will be broadcast.  Get together with your friends and re-watch the championship game.  Commentary and play by play is done by Channel 6 Toepokes regionally famous Mike Anderson and the most famous Bullet Proof Tiger Cougar Jason Hwang.

Look for two more events happening to finish out the 2013 season.

FRIDAY SEPT. 13  - KVKL end of season party

Abe & Jakes Landing (6th & new Hampshire)

- silent charity auction / raffle
- potluck plus some donated food
- keg beer (odells / budweiser)
- djs / games
7pm - 12:30am - $5 to get in

Then SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 22 starting at noon at Holcom Sports Complex will be our Annual Charity Tournament.  Registration is $100 per team to join (or $10 per player if you want to donate more).  Again our selected charities this year are Penn House and The Social Service League.  The First 16 teams to sign up and PAY will make it in. Ive heard of all kinds of wacky super unique teams being put together this year, so it as always should be a total blast.  And don’t forget there are even trophies for this tourney victors too!. Sign up starts tues. sept. 3.  You can either drop money of to Erin Adams or myself or as you know you can always use our Paypal account.

That’s all for now, I wanted to get this out yesterday, but if you were like me, we all needed a day off from an intense day of kickball and fun. Let’s all get together a few more times and compete in the greatest sport in the greatest town…..
