Everything you need to know for opening day of kickball.
Hello Teams and Players, opening day is tommorrow! Here is a rundown of what you need to know for the first week of the season.
Check Where You Are Playing
If you don't already know where and when you are playing, just head on over to the schedule page for Week 1 on the website OR review this PDF.
Is your team Home team of a 5pm game? Then see the "Equipment Pick-up and Drop-off" section below.
Who is Reffing for Your Team?
Every team must provide 2 Refs for the other game on the field where they are playing.
Refs:
Show up early.
Find out who the Captains are for each team and remind them that every player on their team needs to have signed a player waiver (if they have not already. Captains sign a Captain's waiver.) and put it with the clipboard for your field. There will be waivers with the clipboards.
Review the rules, at the Rules Page, the PDF (also include with the clipboards).
Equipment Pick-up and Drop-off
Home teams of the early games (as listed on the schedule) are responsible for picking up the equipment at the equipment shed (garage behind 946 Pennsylvania). The garage will be open 45 minutes to one hour before game times (That means 4pm until 4:15pm). So don't be late!
Drop-off of the equipment (including all of the collected cans). Everything needs to be brought to Hobbs by 9pm. The winning teams of the late games are responsible for returning all equipment from their field.
Captain Your Team
Captains remember you are responsible for the conduct of your team. See the Code of Conduct.
Also (once again), make sure you and all of your players have signed a waiver. Don't forfeit that first game just because you didn't double-(or triple)-check.
Clean up after yourself and others! We want to keep up the great relationship we have with the City by taking care of the fields, dugouts, and surrounding areas.
Check to see if your team is responsible for GOTW clean-up or other duties: see the PDF here.
GOTW
There will be lots and lots of cool and random stuff happening at the Game-of-the-Week, including food! But, remember that we are playing into the night within a neighborhood, so respect that along with your fellow spectators and KVKL'ers.
Teams don't forget to check if you are responsiple for Hobbs Clean-Up! See the PDF here.
Have Fun and After Party (before the Hotel Lobby)!
KVKL After Dark - After GOTW Party is at Harbour Lights. The door as always goes toward charity, so please come down and chat about the games, dance to DJ Ladies Night (aka Josh Ritten), and enjoy Harbour's inside and back bar! Bring your teammates, your friends, and family to help us raise some money for the community!
Harbour will have plenty of drink specials including: High Life Tallboys - 2.50, Hamms cans - 2, plus back-bar specials of PBR pints - 3, and PBR Jars for only 4 bucks!!! (plus maybe some surprise specials).
Thank You!
Let's all have a fun and safe time! All of the teams and players are what make the KVKL such a special organization in LFK! Everyone have a great opening week of kickball!
