KVKL Podcast: Week 5

The Kaw Valley Kickball League podcast, recorded in the lovely and luxurious Lawrence Arts Center (940 New Hampshire), pontificates upon this week's compelling kickballery. Jason "Cougar" Hwang, Mick "Crazy Legs" Cottin, Caleb "Dead Skunk" Skulskie, Erin "Er Bear" Adams and Gavon "Gavon" Laessig discuss everything from ground rule doubles to karaoke. Oh, and Cougar fields questions about the menstrual…

Week 5 Rankings

Well, here are the final Pool Play rankings.  I imagine we'll start seeing Cougar's RPI Rankings here pretty soon, which I'm sure will provide some nice contrast.  Please note that these rankings had absolutely no impact on the way Rank Play was seeded, and do not reflect how the seedings are set up.  Tune in to the Ballin' Idols podcast once it posts to hear Erin announce the seedings…

Fourth of July Mid-Season Break and Festivities

I'd like to commend all 30 teams on a totally kick-ass first half of the season. I am amazed at the improvement in quality of play while still maintaining a cool and level-headed mindset. While no official games will be played on July 4th, we still have Hobbs Field reserved and we are hoping that the day will be filled with lively pick-up games, BBQing, and fun. So, if you have a hankering for playing…

Week 5: YSI: No Equipment Pick-Up

We're trying a new and exciting thing this weekend. All games will be played at YSI. Directions can be found here: http://kawvalleykickball.com/fields/. No need for captains to come to the kickball shack and pick up equipment. Deron and Phil have generously agreed to cart all the equipment out there. This is going to be fun. The whole league will be playing in the same area. Don't forget to bring…

Week 4 Rankings

As we near the end of Pool Play, there are six undefeated teams.  At least one of them will lose this weekend when Replay and Love Garden battle for the James Naismith 1-seed.  There are still opportunities for teams to move up in their Pools, so eat your Wheaties on Sunday! 1. Pita Pit 2. Love Garden 3. Sacred Sword- Won't lose many games scoring seven runs in the first. 4. Los Luchadores 5.…

Youth Sports Complex (aka YSC or YSI)

Directions (from east of Iowa): Take 23rd Street/Clinton Parkway west to Crossgate Dr.  Take a left onto Crossgate Dr. and follow to (turns into 27th Street) a stop sign. Take a left (still on 27th Street) and go across the South Lawrence Trafficway/K-10. YSC is the first significant drive on the left. There will be a tournament of sorts at fields 1-4 (closest to the concession…

Week 3 Rankings

Two very good teams were forced out of the Top 15 this week.  Since there are exactly 15 teams with winning records, some 1-2 teams will have to fight their way back.  That being said, I'm pretty confident that Jazzhaus and Brew Ballers will appear in the rankings again before long, among others. 1. Pita Pit 2. Love Garden 3. Sacred Sword 4. Los Luchadores- Gave my outfielders quite a workout…
