Holcom Park is a 31-acre park that was named in remembrance of Louie Holcom, long-time community baseball coach and friend of youth.
Dedicated in 1974, sports complex, which can be reached from 25th and Iowa Streets, included four lighted baseball diamonds, with storage, restrooms and concession area, athletic field and a 300 car parking lot.
Holcom Park Recreation Center is a 19,000 sq.ft. building and was financed through a bond issue, as well as private funding in 1985 and 1986. It features an air conditioned gymnasium, jogging area, racquetball court, fitness area, locker rooms, multi-purpose meeting rooms and a game room.Â
The park, which can be entered by way of Lawrence Avenue, was completed in 1976. and provides two tennis courts, three wall handball courts, all of which are lighted, group picnic shelter, playground equipment, sand volleyball courts, a recreation center and a sports complex.
