John Denver Experience

Avery Brow and Andrew Fyler met in 1999 in 7th grade brass band.  Avery played trombone, Fyler played Baritone.  Flash forward to the Spring of 2006.  In their freshmen year at KU, the pair decided to start a softball team, and forever change the course of history.  Avery came up with the name The John Denver Experience, a reference to a rollercoaster on South Park.  Fyler suggested the team colors reflect that of the Denver Nuggets.  The team, much like the rollercoaster, endured a rocky start, going 1-13 in their inagural season.  Success slowly snowballed on the field in the years to come, and the Experience expanded past softball, winning city titles in dodgeball, softball, outdoor soccer, indoor soccer, indoor volleyball, sand volleyball, kickball, and also participating in basketball.  Over 200 men and women have become a part of The John Denver Experience, which beyond the field of competition has also become known for chili cookoffs, beer olympics, attempting to hit mortar shells into the air with softball bats, float trips, and large jugs of booze in parking lots.  In 2018 The JDE took over one of the 4 remaining founding members of KVKL, The Goats.
